BARBARA JEAN NEWBY

Died Friday, April 24, 2026-age 70 of Belding, MI. following a battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Barbara was born May 27, 1955
Graduated from Belding High School Class of 1973.
Attended University of LaVerne in LaVerne, CA, where she earned both her 
bachelor's degree & Master's degrees in child development.
She served many years as the director of the child development program at Citrus College in Glendora, CA.

Married William "Bill" Newby on December 5, 1992, in Crestline, CA. They left 
California & returned to Barbara's home town, Belding, MI, where she taught 
Child Development at Lansing Community College until her retirement.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bill Newby, her Mother Lenora, her Father 
Peter, sister Judy Walters, brother-in-law Phil, survived by her brothers Rodney (Young-Mi)West of Henderson, NV & Roger 9Donna) Westerling of Shoreview, MN. 

Funeral services will take place at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9th at 1:00PM with Pastor Mike Simmons officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Belding Community Fund, PO Box 13, 
Belding, MI 48809.
