He had been employed as a security guard in Houston. He was born Jan. 26, 1955, in Lansing, the son of Kingsley and Janet Gray Newcombe. He was a life member of the Disabled Veterans of America. Surviving are his father, Kingsley Newcombe of Portland, and his mother, Janet Baker of Lake Odessa; two brothers, Sgt. Stephen Newcombe of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Larry Newcombe of Battle Creek; a half-brother, Aaron Newcombe, at home; two sisters, Reyne Newcombe of Portland and Heidi Newcombe of Lake Odessa; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gray of Pinelas, Texas; and his paternal grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Park Newcombe, of Kissimmee, Florida. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. from then Neller Funeral home, the Rev. Dow Chamberlain of Portland United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Portland Cemetery, with military graveside services by Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 29, of Ionia.
