Cole Newton, 80 of Hastings died of a heart attack while downtown.  He had 
resided in Barry County 43 years, having come to Hastings from Lowell.  He is 
survived by the widow, a son, Ermont of Hastings, and four daughters, Helen at 
home, Mrs. Fred Mahoney of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Earl Paton of Charlotte and Mrs. 
Glesner Dage of Holland.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday at 
the Methodist church.  Burial will be in South Boston cemetery.
