He was about 80 years of age. His wife was Addie Cilley, sister of E. F. Cilley of Keene. Besides the widow, Mrs. Newton leaves five children. Funeral services are being held this Thursday in Hastings. Interment in South Boston cemetery. ------------ Ionia County News, 2 Jan 1935 Mr. and Mrs. L. A. M____ accompanied Mr. and Mrs. George Tucker and son Maynard to Hastings last Thursday where they attended the funeral services at the M. E. church for Cole Newton. Mr. Newton died December 24, 1934, very suddenly while on an errand downtown the day before Christmas. He and his wife, who was formerly Addie Cilley, sister of Elmer F. Cilley of Keene, were former South Boston residents. They had made their home at Hastings about 40 years. He was 80 years old at the time of his death. Surviving relatives are his widow and five children; Ermont of Hastings, Mrs. Gleaner Dage of Holland; Mrs. Earl Paton of Charlotte; Mrs. Fred Mahoney of Kalamazoo and Miss Helen at Home. The burial was in South Boston Cemetery. Wesley and Floyd Cilley and their sister, Mrs. Minnie L. Adams and daughter Olga of Lansing who attended the funeral services and burial of their uncle, Cole Newton, here Thursday, were dinner guests at the Tucker home.
