She was born in Ionia county, May 28, 1884, the daughter of James and Eliza Kirschman Hanigan. In 1909 she was married to Alfred A. Nichol, a station agent for the railroad in Ionia, who died in 1949. Survivors include one son, John Irwin Nichol of Stockbridge; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Barnard of Hong Kong; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. from Leddick funeral home, with Rev. Robert McComb of First Presbyterian church officiating. Entombment will be at Highland Park mausoleum. Friends and relatives may visit the family at Leddick funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Subsequent Publication: Monday, August 16, 1971 Rev. Robert McComb of First Presbyterian church officiated at funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Laila Hanigan Nichol, who died Monday. Entombment was at Highland Park mausoleum. Bearers were Phillip Pittenger, Herman Hafner, Max Koss, Vern Brockman, Duane Ford and Charles Hurst.
