Mrs. Mary L. Nichol, once a resident of Danby township, and later of Ionia, 
died in Detroit last week, at the age of 89.  She had been in ill health for 
several years.  She was born in Marshall, Mich., in 1855 and in 1872 married 
John Nichol in Philadelphia.  The following year the couple located on a farm 
in Danby township.  Later the couple moved to Ionia, where Mr. Nichol was for 
years an attorney.  His death occurred in 1928.  A son, John Nichol, of Ionia, 
survives, and there is one daughter, Miss Janette Nichol, of Detroit, and two 
grandchildren, and a brother, Benjamin Garfield, of Danby.  Funeral services 
for Mrs. Nichol were held at Ionia Saturday afternoon, and burial was in 
Highland park cemetery there.
