Nov. 21, 1963 SILAS H. NICHOLS Silas H. Nichols, aged 69, of 928 Alderman St., died Tuesday at the Veteran's Facility, Grand Rapids where he had been for the past year. Mr. Nichols was born in Reed City, January 19, 1894 and was a WW II veteran having served with the U.S. Navy in the African and European campaign. He was State DAV Chaplain in 1951 and 1952. In 1946, he owned and operated a grocery store at Wood's Corners and retired in 1960. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; two children, a daughter Ellabeth, six years old and a son, Silas, nine years old; five sisters, Mrs. Grace lagoo, Mrs. Susan McPherson, Mrs. Nellie Castle, all of Ionia, Mrs. Elsie Wall, Wood's Corners, Miss Ella Nichols, Traverse City. Military services will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Huffman Funeral Home with Elmer Burrows, DAV State Chaplain officiating and assisted by Belding DAV Chapter 106. Burial will be in River Ridge cemetery.
