Nicol, 54, who died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in Ferguson-Droste hospital in Grand Rapids. She was a patient several weeks. Born July 3, 1907 in Lake Odessa, she was the daughter of Otis and Jennie Jones Miner. Mrs. Nicol graduated from Lake Odessa high school in 1924 and attended Michigan State university and later Ypsilanti university where she received her teaching degree. She taught in Lake Odessa schools 30 years, retiring in 1958. The library in Lake Odessa high school is named in her honor. A lifelong resident of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Nicol was a member of the local Woman’s club and was active in other community affairs. She was married in 1935 to Thurlow Nicol who survives her. Also surviving is a brother, Neil Roe of Lake Odessa. Bearers were Duane Gray, Don Eckman, Max Decker, Forrest Darby, Don McLeod and Dallas Braden. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery.
