DOD: Monday, 30 November 1953 Ionia Sentinel – Tuesday, 1 December 1953 Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock for Orson William Nielsen who died Monday afternoon about 4:30. He suffered a heart attack while in his car in front of his home at 912 Branch Street. He was born in Seattle, Wash., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Nielsen. He moved with his family to Ronald Township in 1900 and in 1927 married Lillian Wingate at Detroit. In 1930 they moved to Ionia where Mr. Nielsen was employed for 13 years at the Michigan State Reformatory. During World War II he was employed at the Ionia Division of AC Spark plug and later was on the plant production force for the same corporation in Grand Rapids. About a year ago he returned to Ionia and entered private business. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Lorentz of Kalamazoo, and Mrs. Donald Hull of Ionia; one granddaughter, Denise Lorentz of Kalamazoo. Services will be held from the Stone Kauffman funeral home with the Rev. Heath Goodwin of the First Methodist church officiating at 3 pm Thursday. Interment will be in the family lot at Orleans cemetery.
