She was born June 13, 1926, in Ionia County’s Easton Township, the daughter of Walter and Lydia Ganske Bradford. She married Dennis E. Nielsen on Sept. 7, 1952. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville, which later merged with St. Paul Lutheran Church. She had worked as a secretary at Greenville Middle School, as a police dispatcher for the city of Greenville and as a travel agent. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis E. Nielsen, on Feb. 10, 2002; and a sister, Eleanor Kern. She is survived by her children, Debra and Daniel Petersen, Dennis and Carole Nielsen; five grandchildren, Daniel Petersen Jr., Anthony D. Petersen, Andee Petersen, Jena Nielsen, Danielle Nielsen, all of Rockford; and a sister, Eileen Ranney of Grand Rapids. In honoring Esther’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services are 1 p.m. Friday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Scott Lindner, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in East Montcalm Cemetery will take place in the spring.
