Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2 Mar 2005

Ida May Nielson, age 72, of Ionia, passed away Tues., March 1, 2005 in 
Lansing.  She was born May 5, 1932 in Ionia the daughter of Leon and Helen 
(Robinson) Roomsburg.  Ida married Russell Nielson Sr. May 23, 1953 in 
Stanton.  He preceded her in death on April 26, 2000.

Ida was a member of Ionia Church of the Nazarene.  She is survived by her 
children, Helen Christine (Gordy) Douglas of Orleans, Leon Wayne (Carol) 
Nielson of Belding, Russell Chris Nielson, Jr. of Ionia; brother Roy Carr of 
Fremont; sister Esther (Raz) Kimbrough of Arizona; grandchildren Gordy (Beth) 
Douglas of Ionia, Leon Wayne Nielson Jr. of Greenville, Jared (Marion) Douglas 
of Ionia, Kirk Douglas of Orleans, Brittany Nielson of Jenison; 10 great-
grandchildren and brother-in-law William (Greta) Nielson.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Martin (Buster) Green and sister 
Dorothy Stoaks.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Sat., at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with 
Rev. Kirk Starkweather officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial 
Gardens.  The family will receive friends and relatives Fri., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 
at the funeral home.  You may make memorial contributions in Ida’s name to 
Ionia Church of the Nazarene.
