Jan. 16, 1969 Service Held for Harold J. Nielsen --The following report was inadvertently omitted from last week's issue of the Wave-- Harold J. Nielsen, 59, passed away Monday, December 30th, at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital following a long illness and had been hospitalized about a week. He was born May 20, 1909 in Montcalm county, the son of Carl and Fanny Nielsen and graduated from the Greenville High School in 1926. He came to lake Odessa in the summer of 1932 from Greenville as the manager of the Kroger store, remaining until 1942 when he purchased a farm near Freeport where he resided for seven years. mMr. Nielsen returned to lake Odessa about eighteen years ago and was affiliated with the Cities Service Oil Company for several years. For the last ten years he was a used car dealer until he retired because of his he health. Surviving are his wife Bertha; three daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Joyce) Dakos of Ionia, Susan and Jane at home; a son Eldred of Howell, seven grand children and a brother Norman Nielsen of Cedar Springs. Funeral services were held Thursday January 2, at 1:30 of the Pickens Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. Daniel Parker of the Ionia Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
