Mr. Nims was one of the earliest business men of Lake Odessa. He established the elevator now owned by Smith Bros., Velte & Co., was a pardner in the Nims & Weed addition on the west side of the village, and took a special interest in the government of the town, being its president at one time. He built his home here, the one now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnson. He left here about 1910, going to California, locating in Stockton, where he did a thriving business in the elevator line, dealing largely in eastern beans for western consumption. This business brought him satisfactory returns and kept him as busy as when in business here. He was entirely captivated by the climate of California and when on a visit to friends here, would urge them to come to that land of perpetual flowers. His wife passed away about 1915. He leaves a son Voight; two sons Harry with whom he lived and Herbert, a twin, and two younger daughters Gertrude and Florence, and two grandchildren, He was 73 years of age. He will be remembered by many that the twin boys were so nearly alike that only a few could tell them apart.
