The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, July 30, 1930

Rev. Luther, of Ionia, had charge of the funeral services for Mearl Niswonger, 
14 years old, at the home of her parents on the John D. Wilson farm Sunday 
morning.  Mearl was taken to the hospital in St. Johns early in the week where 
she underwent an operation for appendicitis.  Gangrene developed and she 
passed away Friday morning.  Burial was made in the Palo cemetery.
