He was born July 14, 1890, the son of William and Elizabeth Lovekamp Nobis and married the former Hulda Korsemayer in Arenzvile, Illinois in 1915. She preceded him in death in October 1970. Four brothers also preceded him in death. Mr. Nobis moved to Michigan in 1934, living in the Fowler area before moving to Muir in 1942. He was a farmer most of his life. Mr. Nobis was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church. Survivors include two sons, Edward and Earl of Muir; one sister, Mrs. Ida Nicol of Savana, Illinois; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Services are Saturday at 3 p.m. in St. John’s Lutheran church with Rev. Leo Kostizen officiating. Burial is in Sunset Memorial gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Leddick funeral home Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial fund is established for St. John’s Lutheran church. ------------ Funeral services for Julius Nobis, 87, of Muir, who died Wednesday at Ionia County Memorial hospital, were Saturday from St. Johns Lutheran church with Rev. Leo E. Kostizen officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial gardens. Bearers were Wilbur Nicol, Harold, Walter and Arthur Nobis, Glenn Kunzeman and Roland Carls. Before church services, a family prayer time was held at the Leddick funeral home. Following services, luncheon was prepared and served to family and friends at St. John’s Lutheran church.
