Nobis, 66, of Lyons, died early Friday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Arenzville, Ill., on February 20, 1918, the son of Julius and Hulda Korsemeyer Nobis. He attended schools in Illinois and moved to Michigan in 1934. He was an active farmer all his working life on his farm north of Muir. He also worked at Mitchell-Bentley in Ionia and in plant protection for Chrysler in Lyons for 15 years. He retired when the plant in Lyons closed. He married Madaline Young in Lexington, Ky., on September 3, 1940. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau and International Plant Guards of America. He served as a 4-H leader for several years. He is survived by his wife, Madaline of Lyons; one son, Gordon, of rural Muir; two daughters, Mrs. Darrel (Doris) Pierce of rural Lyons and Mrs. Donald (Marilyn) Wood of L’Anse, Michigan; nine grandchildren; one brother, Edward of Phoenix, Arizona. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ionia. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. A memorial has been established for St. John’s Lutheran Church. contributions may be left at the Leddick Funeral Home.
