Bennett lib@dogsbark.com May 17, 2010, 6:40 pm Ionia Sentinel Standard NOLAN, LAWRENCE: IONIA SENTINEL-STANDARD, MI; September 16, 1921, front page: "HUBBARDSTON BOY PROVES VICTIM OF KICK OF HORSE - Lawrence Nolen, Son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nolen, Died Thursday - Special to the Sentinel-Standard - Hubbardston, September 16 - Lawrence Nolen, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nolen, living three miles west of Hubbardston, died at his home Thursday afternoon. Death was due to injuries received two days before from a horse. __________ (unable to read text). The young man attended St. Johns academy at Hubbardston and would have graduated with the class of 1922. He leaves besides his parents, a sister, Miss anna Nolen, employed at Carten's store in Ionia. The funeral will be held at St. John's Catholic church, Saturday morning. Burial will be in the cemetery here."
