Ionia Sentinel Standard – Wednesday, 7 January 1953

Mrs. Nora Fern Bliss, 60, wife of Carl Bliss of 722 West Washington Street, 
died Tuesday evening, January 6, at Blodgett Memorial hospital after being a 
patient there for eleven days.

She was born May 18, 1892, in Mecosta County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles 
Harrington.  Her early life was spent near Barryton.  In 1914 she was married 
to Carl Bliss of Ionia and lived the rest of her life here.  She was a member 
of the First Christian church where she was a deaconess, a member of the 
Bethany Circle and the Women’s Service Guild.  She taught the primary class 
for several years in the church Sunday school.

Surviving her are the husband; one daughter, Mrs. Eldon McCord of Ionia; two 
sons, Don Bliss of Sussex, N. J., and Ronald of Belding; seven grandchildren; 
one sister, Mrs. Fred Harding of Belding; and two sons, Elmer Harrington of 
Belding and Esmond Harrington of Los Angeles, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 pm at the First Christian 
church.  The Rev. Court O. Adams will officiate at the services.  Burial will 
be in Alton cemetery, Kent County.  The body will repose at the Stone-Kauffman 
funeral home until Friday at 1 pm when it will be removed to the church.
