Marilyn A. Northard, 80, died on Nov. 13, 2011. She was born on Sept. 11, 1931.

Marilyn was born in Ionia to Samuel Colon Todd and Josephine (Sams) Todd. She 
graduated from the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit. She met 
and married Lloyd while in nursing training. The couple moved to Kenosha, Wis. 
in 1970, with their six children, all of whom attended colleges in Wisconsin 
and Michigan. Marilyn and Lloyd returned to the Detroit Area in 1977 and moved 
to Rice Lake upon retirement. Together they spent many happy years in 
retirement with family and friends and traveling to places in Europe, 
Australia, Canada and throughout the United States. Marilyn especially loved 
spending time with her children, grandchildren and great – children and her 
love is expressed in the many quilts and embroideries she made for them over 
the years.

Marilyn was an active hospital volunteer throughout her adult life and was most 
recently an auxiliary Volunteer at the Lakeview Medical Center. She was 
involved locally in Fortnightly and the Presbyterian Women and enjoyed her time 
golfing and swimming with friends.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Northard; sons, Todd, David, Scott 
(Jackie) Peter (Lynne) and Eric (Nancy) Northard; daughter Amy (Joe) Korbel; 11 
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Murphy, Jean 
Piselli, Joanne (Bob) Hull, Phyllis (Don) Nystrom and Kathy Jones; brother, 
Steve (Char) Todd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
