Northrop. The funeral services of Major A. Northrop took place at the family residence, on East Washington street, at 3 o’clock this afternoon, and were attended by a large number of friends. The services were by Rev. J.T. Oxtoby, D.D., of the Presbyterian church, and Rev. W.H. Scott, of the Church of Christ. The first named made a feeling and appropriate address. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. The bearers were F.A. Sessions, R. Lee Page, W.B. Heath, T. A. Carten, L.G. Townsend and Z.B. Cutler. Interment was in Highland Park. Relatives present from out of the city were: Mrs. F.W. Sherman, Petoskey; Mr. and Mrs. H. Coleman, East Saginaw; Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Northrop and Frank Northrop, Laveview. The passing away of a promising young man, just at the commencement of the full powers of manhood, is always a sad event, and in this case the general sorrow is deepened from the intimate social relations sustained by deceased toward so many of our citizens, and the firm hold his genial social qualities and high character had given him upon the affectionate regard of so many of our best people.
