Mr. James R. Northrup, 63, of Ionia, passed away Monday, March 13, 2000, at
Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids.  

James Robert Northrup was born Dec. 2, 1936, in Ionia, the son of Otto L. and
Dalta L. (Weitzel) Northrup.  He grew up in Ionia and graduated from Ionia High
School in 1955.  He was married to Rosemary Lane on Dec. 7, 1963, in Ionia. 
James worked 30 years for Fisher Body, retiring in 1995.  He liked to fish, hunt
and work in his garden.  He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his
family.

Mr. Northrup is survived by his wife, Rosemary; two daughters, Susan Reidt of
Ionia, and Becky Truesdell of Orlando, Fla.; one son, James Robert Northrup II
of Ionia; six grandchildren, Heather, R.J., Jennifer, Brittany, Brianna and
Ritchie; two sisters, Margaret of Grand Ledge and Mary Ellen of Ionia; one
brother, Larry of Ionia; one sister-in-law, Marie of Ionia; several nieces,
nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
Richard (Betty) and John; and one sister, Beatrice.

Funeral services are Friday at 11 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel,
Ionia, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. 
Interment will be in Balcom Cemetery.  Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 p.m.
to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions
may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
