A short notice in last week’s Banner told of the finding of Charles Northway in the road near his home, where he had fallen as a result of a stroke of apoplexy, last Tuesday afternoon. He lingered in an unconscious condition until Thursday when he passed to his rest. Chas. Northway was born in the state of New York in the year 1824, and when but a small boy removed with his parents to the state of Ohio. April 24th, 1848, the day his father was buried, he came to Michigan and located in Otisco. In 1853 he purchased the farm located in Keene township which he cleared up and lived on till the time of his death. He was married to Mary Ann Hutchinson in 1854 and two children were bon to this union, George, now living, and an infant who died at birth, the mother giving her life for the babe. In 1861, he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Hayes, who still survives him, three children coming to their home Mrs. Mary Tuttle of Otisco, Mrs. Bernice Daniels of Sand Lake and Mrs. Fanny Brooks of Grattan. Four brothers and three sisters, Albert Northway of Smyrna, Hiram Northway of Tustin, Rufus Northway of Missouri, John Northway of Erie, Pa., Mrs. Wright of Reed City, Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Spencer of Toledo and a large number of friends are left to mourn his sudden summons to the border land.
