The Rev. Raymond L. Norton, 72, of Cape Coral, Fla., died Friday at his home.  
He was born Dec. 17, 1906 in Central Lake, Mich., the son of William and Kate 
Norton.

Norton served with the ministry for 45 years in the following communities; 
Lansing, Beaverton, Marion, Jackson, Paw Paw, Mason, Three Rivers, Ludington, 
Clare, Portland and Stockbridge.  He also served as chaplain during WWII in 
Germany.

Survivors include wife Ruth; one son, Daniel J. Norton of Hudson, N.H., one 
daughter; Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Spencer of Westphalia; five grandchildren; 
four brothers, William, Clare and Walter, all of Cape Coral, Fla., and Howard 
of Texas; one sister, Mrs. Grace Gillette of Orland, Fla.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Portland United 
Methodist Church.  The Rev. Wirth Tement of the United Methodist Church of 
Traverse City will officiate.  Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery at 
Holt.  A memorial fund has been established for the Grace United Methodist 
Church building fund, Cape Coral, and contribution can be left at the funeral 
home.  Funeral arrangements were made by Neller Funeral Home of Portland.
