Norton, at the Church of Christ on Sunday afternoon, was attended by any mourning friends of the deceased and of the family, and the sorrow was very manifest, for Mrs. Norton was greatly beloved for her womanly virtues. The women of the several aid societies of the church were present in large numbers. Sarah A. Cole was born in St. Thomas, Canada, in the year 1854, and was therefore aged 61 years at time of her demise. She was orphaned in her early childhood, and was united in marriage to Mr. Norton in 1878, in this city. The husband, and one daughter, Mrs. Edward Bloomer, survive, and of her own family, two brothers survive. Joseph Cole and son John of Windsor, Can., were at the burial. John Cole resides in far-away Montana. The funeral discourse by the Rev. R. B. Chapman was most consoling, and his tribute to the deceased was well deserved. The discourse was founded on John 16:33: “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Revs. Yeuell and E. E. Branch assisted in the service, and music was furnished by Mesdames Eugene Smith, Harry E. Spencer and G. M. Phelps. The carriers were drawn from the active membership of the church: Frank C. Miller, A. J. White, F. S. Loree, Dwight Z. Brooks, Edw. S. Nowland, Ralph Smith.
