John Nowak, 78, of Saranac died suddenly Saturday evening, January 22, at 5:15 
o’clock following a heart attack while visiting at the home of his daughter, 
Mrs. Carl Roseboom, Ionia Route 4.

Mr. and Mrs. Nowak were Saranac farmers, moving there from Grand Rapids where 
Mr. Nowak had been a contractor 24 years ago.  Mrs. Nowak died in February, 
1947.  The couple would have been married 50 years this year.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Carl Rosebom of Ionia Route 4, Mrs. Vincent 
Schaefer of Saranac Route 1 and Mrs. Leon Gaca of Grand Rapids; a son, Bernard, 
of Saranac with whom Mr. Nowak resided; and two brothers in Poland.

The body is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gaca, 849 Jackson street, Grand 
Rapids.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 2, at 10 a.m. from 
St. Adelbert’s cemetery in Grand Rapids.  Interment will be in the Polish 
Catholic cemetery in Grand Rapids.
