She lived in Easton and Otisco townships until her death January 23, 1931, living on the farm near Belding for 30 years. She was married to Oscar A. Nummer January 1, 1885 and to this union were born five children, who survive her: Lee and Russell, of Alma; Miss Edna Nummer and Mrs. Wallace Updike, of Belding, and Mrs. Gerald Barnes, of Greenville. Her husband died June 25, 1915. She also leaves a mother, Mrs. Fred Mindorf and a sister, Mrs. James McPhaul, both of Alma, a brother, Samuel Bell, who made his home with her, 11 grandchildren and hosts of friends. Of a quiet and unassuming disposition but so gifted that she was an able leader in whatever group was graced by her presence. She was a charter member of the East Otisco Farmers’ club and Belding Grange; also a member of the Ionia County and Michigan State Grange. A lover of nature and the great outdoors, being well-versed in bird lore, animal life and habits and having a great fondness and knowledge of plants and flowers. A fond mother and grandmother, a loyal friend and kind neighbor. She will be missed by all whose lives have been better and happied by having known her. Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday, January 25 attended by many relatives and friends, Rev. G.A. Mooers of the Methodist church officiating, with Mrs. Mooers at the organ. Mrs. Edith Berry and Mrs. Lottie Williams saying “Sunrise” and “God Is Love,” and amid a wealth of flowers she was laid to rest in the family lot in Easton cemetery.
