Douglas Wayne Nummer, 59, of Ionia, passed away Thursday morning, October 26, 
2006 at his home under the care of his family and Ionia Area Hospice.  Doug 
was born on July 21, 1947 in Ionia, the son of Manly and Winona Nummer.  He 
had retired from Fisher Body in Lansing after 30 years of service.  Doug was a 
veteran of the Vietnam War  proudly serving in the United States Army 
stationed in Alaska.  He was a past member of the Saranac American Legion and 
currently belonged to the Eagles of Belding, the Ionia Moose Lodge and the 
Elks Club of Ionia.  

Doug was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.  He also enjoyed spending 
time at his winter home in Zephyrhills, Florida.  Doug loved time spent 
hanging out with family and friends.  He will be remembered as a kind and 
helpful person, who enjoyed just being around people.  

He was preceded by his parents and one brother Dwight.  Doug is survived by 
his daughter and son-in-law; Carmon and Scott Ferman of Belding, two 
grandsons; Christian and Matthew, his brother David Nummer of Eagle, one 
niece, one nephew and two great nieces.  

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.  Memorial services will 
be 7 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Dick 
Ostrander offering a eulogy and prayers.  No visitation will take place.  
Inurnment will be in Orleans Township Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be 
given to the Belding Scholarship Program or the Belding Band Boosters.
