Nov. 6, 2012 Earlene Annette (Hoople) Nunes, 71, of Ionia and Melbourne, Fla., passed away Nov. 2, 2012. She was born Nov. 22, 1940 to Russell and Geraldine (Seeley) Hoople. Earlene married Leo Thomas, Ionia, in 1958 for 16 years. She remarried to Joseph Nunes in 1976, whom she shared her life with for 28 years before his passing on Nov. 5, 2004. Earlene and Joe owned and operated Pierson's Orchard and Farm Market from 1977 to 1984, when they moved to Florida. She worked at Marshalls for 25 years. After retiring she spent her time traveling, including several cruises, bus trips, casinos and even a special trip to Europe. Her biggest joy in life was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, second husband and brother Phil Hoople. She is survived by her sons, David (Karen) Thomas of Ionia, Christopher (Tammy7) Thomas of Ionia and Scott (Shirley) Thomas of Ionia; grandchildren, Traci (Todd) Flanner of Ionia, Travis (Megan) Thomas of Ionia, Jarrod (Barbara) Thomas of Ionia, Brandon Thomas of Ohio and Kassidy (Todd) Tubergen of Ionia, five great-grandchildren; sister, Pat (Bill) Rudolph of Jackson; sisters-in- law, Kathy Hoople of Ionia and Maryann Christy of Florida; nieces and nephews and stepchildren, Karen (Paul) Moore, and Linda (Mark) McGinn; step- grandchildren, Angie (Doug) Leland and Adam Kerr; her significant other, Robert (Bob) Butler of Ionia, his son Dave (Rhonda) Butler and family and his daughter Lisa Brewer and family. Per her wishes no service or visitation will be held and cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to hospice or one's choice. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.
