The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, January 26, 1983
Carl G. Oakley, 20, former Ionia resident, died Monday in Austin, Texas from 
injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  Born in Ionia November 16, 
1962, he attended schools in Ionia before moving to Portland where he attended 
high school.  He moved to Texas about 18 months ago and was employed by a 
construction firm at the time of his death. 

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Janet Clark of Ionia, and his maternal 
grandmother, Mrs. Marion Oakley of Saranac.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday from the Leddick Funeral Home, the 
Rev. Richard Dickens of the Ionia Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating.  
Burial will be in Balcom cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home 
Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  A memorial has been established for 
the Ionia County Unit of the American Cancer Society.
