He came to Michigan when two years of age, and spent his boyhood days at Vermontville. At the age of 21, he married Miss Alice E. Quance of Vermontville, taking up his residence at Charlotte, Mich. They moved to Ionia fifteen years ago. To them was born one son, Bernard Eugene, now 17 years old, and living at home. He is survived by his wife and son, his mother, Mrs. E. E. Ellis, of Ionia; his sister, Mrs. C. W. Hubbard of Saginaw, and half sister, Mrs. Lillian de Beaupre of St. Louis, MO. The funeral was held at the farm home in Berlin on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. E. E. Branch of the Baptist church officiated. The singing was by Mrs. Eugene Smith and Mrs. W. C. Peer. Members of the Modern Woodmen of America acted as escort, and the bearers selected from their numbers, were: F. M. Balcom, L. L. Cotton, W. C. Peer, C. H. Dumont, Guy Crawford and John Kingston. Interment was in Balcom cemetery. Relatives and friends here to attend the funeral from other places were; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Hubbard, Saginaw; Frank A. Trimmer, Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Ellis and Mrs. Frank Sighs, Grand Rapids; Fred Ellis, and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Willis, Olivet; Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Woodruff, Greenville; Eugene and Miss Elizabeth Mason, Bellevue; Mr. and Mrs. N. McLaughlin, Vermontville. Card of Thanks We wish to thank the many friends and neighbors, and the Modern Woodmen of America, for their kindness, sympathy and floral offerings; also the singers for the beautiful music, in our late bereavement.
