Obersig-Bissell, 81, of Belding, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 17, 2008, at the Laurels of Carson City. She was born Feb. 21, 1927, in Greenville, the daughter of Roy and Mabel Christian. She graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1945. In earlier years she worked at Gibson’s in Greenville, retiring in the early 1970s. She was a member of Belding American Legion Post 203 Ladies Auxiliary. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Chuck Obersig; her second husband, Fred Bissell; one son in infancy; one grandson; and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Vonnie and Steve Bunting, Cathy Bain, all of Greenville, Mary and Patrick Derosha of Fenwick, Don and Leann Obersig of Texas, Kristie and David Ogden of Greenville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral and committal services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Private interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
