O'Brien, 17 of route 3 Belding, died Friday at Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids as a result of injures sustained in an auto accident June 17, in which his brother, David 25 was killed. The accident happened on M44 in Kent county. He was born Feb. 6, 1954 in Grand Rapids and would have been a senior at Belding high school in the fall. He was founder of the Sound Set band. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O'Brien, three sisters, Patricia, 16, Karen, 13 Coleen, 11, two brothers, Steven 14 and Timothy 10, grandmother, Ms. Evelyn Alpers of Traverse City. Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 pm at Huffman funeral home in Belding. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 am at St. Patrick church in Parnell. Fr. Edmund Farrell will officiate and interment will be at the church cemetery. Bearers will be Paul Crystler, Rod Westerling, Dan Lamoreaux, John Hunt, Robert Sherman and Don Harrison.
