            Jean Elaine (Thomas) O'Connell died June 3, 2008 

She was born April 10, 1927 to Ray and Iva (Dickinson) Thomas. She was raised in 
Palo until she was married to John R.O'Connell in 1945 and moved to Ludington 
until 1950. 

Two of their four children,John and Mike were born in Ludington at the old 
Paulina Stearns Hospital. In 1951, they moved to the Palo-Ionia area where she 
bore two more children. In 1976 after 31 years of marriage, she parted ways with 
her husband John. She met and married Col. Alan Schnipke, US.Army retired, and 
they have remained life long-friends. She then moved to San Diego area and 
remained there for 28 years. 

In October 2005 she returned to Ludington to live out her remaining days.Jean 
was a highly spirited woman with a kind and generous heart. She loved to laugh 
and to love. She was an inspiration to many. She called them as she saw them, 
not one to mince words. She gave selflessly to her family until the end and will 
be missed so much by all of us.

Jean is survived by her four children, John R.O'Connell of Haslett, Michael 
(Selma) O'Connell of Ludington, Chrisandra Yenchar of Ludington and Dan 
O'Connell of Belding; also her grandchildren Rick (Sue) O'Connell of Eaton 
Rapids, Kelly (Mark) Copper of Lake Odessa, Kristina (finance Mark) O'Connell of 
San Diego, Andrew (Carie) Wright of California,Dan Yenchar of Ludington, Kari 
(fiance Adriel) O'Connell and Patrick OO'Connell of Belding and five great-
grandchildren.Also surviving are siblings Geraldine (Chuck) Reinhardt of 
Tennessee and Norma (Deloras) Thomas of Florida; sister-in-law Virginia (Dick) 
Underwood and Jan O'Connell of Ludington and Bessie Fox of Muskegon and Joyce 
Fox of Petoskey and many nieces and nephes, including special niece Vicki 
(Floyd) Goodwin of Ionia.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters Leona (Thomas) Linder, 
Helen (Thomas) Husted and Fayanne (Thomas) Westbrook and siblings-in-law David 
O'Connell and Ellen and George Fox of Ludington.

According to Jean's wishes thee will be no funeral and cremation taking place. 
There will be a memorial in her honor and that date and place will be announced 
later.
