Odinga, 76, of 602 North Johnson, died Friday evening at Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient one day. Born in Harlingen Netherlands, September 12, 1894, she was the daughter of August and Roukie Postuma Visser. She was married in the Netherlands, August 12, 1918 to Max Odinga, and they came to the United States in 1927, making their home in Grand Rapids until moving to Ionia in 1929, where Mr. Odinga was employed at Michigan Reformatory, retiring as farm superintendent, April 1, 1961. He died October 20, 1961. A member of First United Methodist church, she also belonged to its afternoon circle of WSCS, Mother's study club and Ionia City Extension club and was also a member of senior citizens. Surviving are a son, August of Ionia; two grandchildren; one brother, Harry Visser of the Netherlands; one sister, Mrs. Weit deGroot of route 1, Ionia. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 pm at First United Methodist church. Rev. Charles Fullmer will officiate and interment will be at Balcom cemetery. Family will be at Leddick funeral home Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm A memorial fund has been established for First United Methodist church.
