Michael Kelly O’Donnell, 53, died July 27, 2011 at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods.

Mike was born and raised in Ionia, but resided in Middleville. 

He was predeceased by one brother, Brian, and his parents, Hugh and Virginia.

He is survived by his wife Roxanne, his children Kylee, Travis and Jennifer and 
stepsons, Greg and Chad Varney. Also surviving are his siblings Carol (George) 
Meyers of Ionia; Terrie (Doug) Tran of Belding; Bill of Ionia (Kaye of Lyons); 
Linda (Randy) Sherman of Tennessee and Danny and Joel of Ionia. Mike also has 
five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, as well as two cousins, Tom 
O’Donnell and Patty Faust of New Jersey.

Most recently, Mike was employed by Schwans (sales and delivery) in the Grand 
Rapids/Hastings area. He began his career at Fates Supermarket followed by 
Eberhards, Food City and Plumbs and eventually became Asst. Manager at Plumbs 
of Hastings. With his softball days behind him Mike became an avid and intense 
golfer… a game he challenged himself to whenever possible. But his greatest 
gift, right to the end, was his ability to entertain and bring a smile (and a 
laugh) to those around him. Whether you were family, friend, co-worker, or 
customer, he had a unique way of making you feel special. He was the 
quintessential people person if ever there was one and not only made friends, 
but kept them.

There will be a memorial service held in Mike’s honor at 11 a.m. Wednesday, 
Aug. 3 at the Ionia Theater, 205 W. Main St., officiated by Grant Carpenter, 
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be 
made to the family in c/o Carol Meyers, 609 N. Jackson Street, Ionia, MI 48846, 
or Faith Hospice/ Trillium Woods, 8214 Pfeiffer Farms Dr., S.W., Byron Center, 
MI 49315.
