The son of Peter and Theresia Kowalski O’Donnell, he was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Ionia. He retired from Grant Trunk Railroad in 1985. He was a well-known jazz musician and had been a drummer for 45 years. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Surviving are his wife Virginia; four sons, William P. of Hubbardston, Michael of Muir, Joel of Ionia and Daniel of Orleans; three daughters, Mrs. George (Carol) Meyers of Ionia; Mrs. Douglas (Terrie) Trann of Belding; and Mrs. Randy (Linda) Sherman, also of Belding; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas P. O’Donnell of Trenton, N.J. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian, in 1985. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Ionia. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. The family will be at Cook Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial has been established for Kingdom Hall Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.
