Oliver, age 90, of Sheridan passed away Saturday September 8, 2007 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Campus in Greenville. She was born in Hixson, Tennessee on May 7, 1917 the daughter of Charles and Maggie Lee Arnett Hixson. Alice worked during WW II on aircraft parts, she liked bowling, her family and at age 78 she began serving as hospitality aid at Heartland Health Care in Ionia retiring in 2003. She was the owner of the “Hillbilly Hut” store in Greenville for several years and was a volunteer at Sheridan Hospital. She was married to Charles L. Oliver in 1948 and he died in 1994. The family wishes to thank the staff at Spectrum Health United Memorial for the kindness and compassion shown to Alice and her family. She is survived by her children; Patsy Blake of Gaylord, Sharon and Terry Gunther, Marian and Ray Foster and Sue and Richard Hawley all of Greenville, Steve and Gladys Oliver of Vestaburg, Stanley and Patty Oliver of Sheridan and Mark and Annette Oliver of Brighton, 26 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death also by 9 siblings. At the wishes of Alice, her remains were donated for anatomical research to the Department of Anatomy at Michigan State University. No services will be held at this time.
