Mr. Olmstead was born at Portland, July 26, 1882, the son of William and Jeanette Olmstead, who with their family moved to Orleans when he was nine years old and where he spent most of his life with the exception of one and one- half years in Carson City where he conducted a barber shop. August 14, 1907, he married Miss Maude Clements of Orleans. He had been in business in Orleans since 1908 when he first opened a barber shop and store which he later enlarged and added a large of stock of groceries, meats, and confectionery. Due to failing health, he sold the store to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Clingensmith a few years ago. He was a charter member of the Orleans Grange. He is survived by his widow of Orleans, two sons, Dean and Donald of this city, two grandchildren, Deanna and Thomas, two brothers, Carl of Orleans and A.I. of Ionia and one sister, Mrs. Alden Rowley of Ionia. Funeral services were in charge of Fitzjohn funeral directors where the body reposed until noon Wednesday and funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock with Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating.
