Olmsted, 56, of 801 Harding street, died Sunday in Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born April 13, 1917, in Weidman, and lived in Sutton’s Bay, Fenwick and Orleans before moving to Belding 27 years ago. Employed at Belding Tool and Machine Corp, he was a member of the Belding Sportsman club and a World War II army veteran. Mr. Olmsted was married July 10, 1953, in Belding to Helen A. Thompson. Surviving are: his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Pamela Wycoff of Kenai, Alaska; one son, Michael of Ionia; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Lynn Smith of San Bruno, Calif., Mrs. Gordon Groesser of Sutton’s Bay, and Mrs. John Britt of Hileah, Fla., and two brothers Edgar Olmsted of Sutton’s Bay and Morton Olmsted of Frankford. Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Charles M. Courser Funeral home in Belding with the Rev. Wilford B. Wood, officiating. Burial is to be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens in Ionia county.
