He came to Michigan with his parents at the age of three years and has since resided in Carlton township. He was united in marriage to Jessie Benten LePard of Odessa township on December 25, 1883. One son, George, was born to this union.. His wife preceded him in death October 26, 1942. He was a member of the Tamarac United Brethren church for years and transferred his membership to the Woodbury church when the church was moved to Kalamazoo. After a lingering illness, he passed away at his home in Carlton township on June 22, 1945, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and five days. He leaves to mourn their loss his son George, two grandsons, Carl in Woodland and S/Sgt. Clare Olmsted in the Ninth Engineer company with the Ninth Air Force now in Germany, and three great-grandchildren; one brother Moses at Midale, Saskethewan; also a nephew, the Rev. Paul Olmsted in Lake Odessa; a half-sister Mrs Esther Parmelee in Grand Rapids, and two step-brothers, George LePard at Claresholm, Alberta, Canada, and David LePard in Grand Rapids. He will be greatly missed by his relatives, friends and neighbors. The funeral was held at the Wortley & Baine chapel on Monday of last week, the Rev.M.H. Dawson giving the sermon. Pall bearers were John Abbot, August Tasker, Arthur Stairs and Scott Lydy. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
