She apparently had attempted to revive the fire with the fluid. Her son, Dalton, three years old, was in the Ionia hospital with little chance to live, his body covered with burns. The husband was seriously burned about the face, hands, and back, but was not reported in a serious condition. Olsen said his wife got up about 8 o’clock to start the fire. He said he did not know what happened but said he thought his wife threw kerosene into the stove. He said he heard her scream as the entire kitchen burst into flames. Trapped in the bedroom and the only door across the kitchen, Olsen said he placed his small son under his arm and rushed through the flames dropping the child just outside the door. He returned to the flaming kitchen to attempt to save his wife. He succeeded in pulling her out the door but he said she was already dead. The Olsens lived in a small tenant house on the old Bishop farm in Easton, now occupied by Wesley McCarty. They had resided there for the past year. They were formerly from Trufant and Greenville. Mrs. Olsen is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lillian Kinzie, Logan street, Hillsdale, and a sister, also of Hillsdale. A brother, Albert Back, an officer in Sault Ste. Marie CCC camp, also survives. Subsequent Publication: March 20, 1934 Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Olsen, 25, whose death occurred Monday morning, and for her son Delton who died at the Community hospital Monday afternoon from burns received from an exploded stove during the morning, will be held from the Bradley funeral home, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Paul Stewart will conduct the service. Temporary burial will be at the Easton cemetery.
