Lake Odessa Wave 
          LAWRENCE J. O'MARA
   LAKE ODESSA --- Lawrence J. O'Mara, 58, of Route 1, Lake Odessa, died May 12 in
Pennock Hospital Hastings.
   Born Sept. 16, 1924, he was the son of Frank and Emma Endress O'Mara.  He
graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1941 and attended Michigan State University.
   He was married to the former Ruth Maurer on Aug. 24, 1948, in Nashville.
   In addition to farming, he had been associated with grain elevators for 40
years,, the last 20 of them with Bergy Bros. in Alto.  He retired from that position in 
1980 because of poor health.
   He was a member of St. Edward's Church, Lake Odessa;  the Lake Odessa Fair Board,
Ionia County 4-H Council, and the West Michigan Livestock Association.
   Surviving are his wife;  three daughters:  Mrs. Robert (Pat) Ironside of Jenison,
Mrs. Melvin (Teressa) Kelly of Conklin, and Melissa O'Mara, at home;  four sons:  Dennis 
of Hastings, Michael of Lake Odessa and Edward and Shawn at home.
   Also surviving are:  his mother, Mrs. Emma O'Mara of Lake Odessa;  two brothers,
Thomas of Ionia and Eugene of Lake Odessa;  three sisters, Marie O'Mara of Marshall, Mrs. 
Kenneth (Pauline) Hubbard of Saranac; Mrs. James (Rosemary) Hickey of Lake Odessa;  and 
five grandsons and one granddaughter.
   Rosary services were Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Pickens-Koop Funeral Chapel, Lake
Odessa. 
   Funeral mass was Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Edward's Church, the Rev. Fr. Louis
Baudone officiating.  Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
   A memorial for the Dr. Donald Rollins Research Fund (Plumonary and Respiratory
Diseases) has been established in a care of the funeral home.
