Aug. 28, 2013 Everett R. Onan, 72, of Ionia, passed away Monday evening, Aug. 26, 2013 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids. Everett was born on Aug. 6, 1941 in Belding, the son of Jason and Mercie (Groom) Onan. He completed two years of college and later he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. Everett was a "Jack of all trades", he enjoyed bowling, camping, building things, always had a nice garden, carpentry and playing cards. He was a member of the Church of the Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in Greenville. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Everett married on Nov. 7, 1964 in Keene Township to Jacqueline Graham. He is loved and survived by his wife Jacqueline and their children, Elizabeth "Beth Ann" Wright and Jeff Wright of Belding, James (Melissa) Onan of Fenwick, Kevin (Stacy) Onan, David Onan, Jennifer (Brian) Jones, all of Ionia; grandchildren, Jessica, Kasandra, Travis, David Jr., Autumn, Trinity, Brian Jr. and Andrea; and brothers and sisters, Ted Onan of Nevada, Connie (Don) Bart of Jenison, Darryl (Kathy) Onan of Lowell, Bea (Randy) Smith of Middleville, Shelly (Pat) Bailey of Lowell and Lori (Scott) Gates of Grand Ledge. He was preceded by his parents; two brothers, Gilbert and David in infancy; and a daughter, Julie. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at Church of the Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, Greenville with Elder Maynard Failing conducting. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Committal prayers will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Bailey Cemetery north of Lowell. Memorials may be given to the Wishes of the Family. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted. Messages of condolence may also be given at www.jffh.com.
