Mrs. Katherine O'Neil, 77, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Ionia, died Sunday afternoon

at her Grand Rapids home after an extended illness. She was the widow of the late 
Richard ONeil.

Born in Ionia, April 15, 1871, her maiden name was Katherine Burke. She operated a 
millinery store in Ionia for many years until she and her husband moved to Grand 
Rapids in the 1920's. She was owner of O'Neil's Hat Shoppe in Grand Rapids at the 
time of her death Mrs. O'Neil was a member of St. Andrew's Cathedral, of the 
Catholic Daughters of America, of the Sonta club, and of the Business and 
Professional Woman's club, all of Grand Rapids. 

She is survived by four nieces, Mrs. Marie Burke of St. Louis, MO., Mrs. Terrance 
Quinn of Ionia and Mrs. A. F. Jannausfeh and Mrs. C. M. Robinson of Grand Rapids; 
and two nephews, W. H. Burke of Lansing and Jerry Burke of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.


Rosary will be said at O'Brien's Colonial funeral home in Grand Rapids at *:30 
Tuesday evening. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. 
Wednesday with funeral services at St. Andrew's at 10 a.m. Interment till be in 
Woodlawn cemetery in Grand Rapids.
