Dorothy Onweller, 88, of Yankee Road, Morenci passed away Monday, November 14, 
2005, in Port Orange Florida. She was born on July 23, 1917, in Ionia, the 
daughter of Benjamin and Fern (Chadwick) Banhagel.

On June 21, 1952, she married Curtis Onweller. He preceded her in death on 
Sept. 29, 1984.

Dorothy was a teacher living in the Morenci area  most of her life. She was a 
graduate of the St. Peter & Paul's Academy in Ionia. She received her teaching 
degree from Eastern Michigan College in 1935. She taught school for 41 years 
(28 years in Morenci). Dorothy and Curtis purchased the Morenci Drug Store (Now 
Mike's) in 1952, (Where Curtis was a pharmacist) the same year, they were 
married and ran it for 25 years. They retired in 1977 and spent the winters in 
Port Orange, Florida.

Survivors include a sister, Maxine (Joe)Shindorf of Belding and lots of nieces 
and nephews. Besides her husband, Curtis, Dorothy was preceded in death by her 
parents; three sisters, Agnes Paris, Ruth Whitham, and Doris Fisher Schuler; 
and a nephew, Jim Whitham.

Memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Fayette, Ohio on 
Monday, November 21, 2005, at 11 a.m. with Father Gary Ferguson officiating. 
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at the Oak 
Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Funeral arrangements were through the Eagle Funeral 
Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions 
are suggested to the Morenci Stair Public Library.
