Dorothy L. Oriel (Helderop), 84, of Dorr, formerly of Ionia, died Friday, Dec. 
12, 1997 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.  She was born the daughter 
of Otto M. and Lydia (Barcomb) Kellogg on March 12, 1913 in Lowell.

She married Anthony Helderop, who preceded her in death in 1968.  Her husband, 
Tony, had operated Tony’s Crystal Flash in Ionia for many years before his 
death.  She was a member of the Door Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Pastor Richard (Sandra) Helderop of Dorr; two 
daughters, Bonnie (Donald) Shattuck and Beverly (Ronald) Johnston, both of 
Ionia; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Miller of 
Grand Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her 
son, Tony, in 1980.

Funeral services ill be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Shiloh Community 
Church with her son, Pastor Richard Helderop, officiating.  Interment will be 
in Easton Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. 
to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Rich St. Chapel of Cook Funeral Home in Ionia.  
Memorial contributions can be made to the Dorr Baptist Church Memorial fund.
