Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Fri. Jan. 22, 1960

Charles W. Orth, 83, a resident of Ronald township on the Westbrook road, died 
suddenly at 8 a.m. Friday as his wife attempted to aid him.

Sheriff Peter VanVleck said he was called to the Orth residence along with 
County Coroner Dale Kauffman shortly after Orth died. He had been ill with a 
heart codition and had been treated at Lyons. Mrs. Orth told the Ionia sheriff 
Orth became ill before he retired Thursday night but had improved after taking 
medicine. He awoke at 7 a.m. Friday complaining of severe chest pains. He died 
an hour later.

He was born December 27, 1976 in Ronald township, the son of Frederick and 
Sarah Baxter Orth, and was married August 21, 1913 in Stanton to Arlie Childs.

Mr. and Mrs. Orth lived in Carson City for a short time and moved to their home 
in which Mr. Orth was born.

Orth is survived by his wife, Arlie and two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Marie) 
Dickinson of Flint and Mrs. Ralph (Lucille) Gow of Detroit; four grandchildren 
and four great-grandchildren. 

Coroner Kauffman said Orth died of a coronary condition.

Funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Myers funeral home. The Rev. 
Heath T. Goodwin will officiate and burial will be at Carson City cemetery.
