The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, June 23, 1989

Walter L. Orwig, 57, of Ionia, died June 21 at the Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital.  He was born the son of Harold and Mabel Hass Orwig on Sept. 26, 
1931 in Ionia Township.  He worked many years for the Ionia Public Schools as 
a custodian.

Surviving are his wife, Ila; two sons, Walter Jr. of Sidney and Richard of 
Syracuse, Ind.; three grandchildren; one brother, Otto of Lakeview; and one 
sister, Mrs. Donald (Hilda) Misner of Ionia. 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cook Funeral Home in 
Ionia with the Rev. Kendall Harger of the Shiloh community Church 
officiating.  Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery.  Visiting hours at 7 to 8:30 
p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the 
Ionia Area Hospice.
