Osborn, received here Sunday was a shock to her many friends and relatives. Many hearts were made sad by the news for she was a woman loved and esteemed by all who knew her and her acquaintance in this township was wide. Mrs. Osborn, accompanied by her daughter, Mabel, left here a little over two weeks ago to visit with her sister, Mrs. R.T. Nicholas, in Chicago, and also to take treatment at a hospital in that city. The physician advised her to undergo an operation, which she did last week, Wednesday, and was getting along finely until Friday, when she was taken with an attack of pneumonia and death terminated a beautiful life Sunday morning May 10. The remains were brought to this city Monday morning and the scene at the station was a sad one. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Curtis, old and respected residents near here. She was born in Ingersol, Ont., Canada, Jan. 26, 1859, and came with her parents to Michigan in 1865. She was united in marriage to Aaron J. Osborn Feb. 22, 1882, and their home was blessed with one daughter, Mabel. Nearly three years ago Aaron J. Osborn met a tragic death by fire-damp in a well in Keene. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at her late residence, and was attended by a large number of friends and the Smyrna Ladies of the Modern Maccabees, of which hive she was an esteemed member. Rev. N.J. Myers officiated, preaching from Psalm xxiii, a text selected by her daughter, Mabel, and Mrs. D. Hoppough sang with much feeling the sweet songs, “Sometime We’ll Understand,” and “No Goodbyes There.” The remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in River Ridge cemetery. Besides her daughter, Mabel, she leaves to mourn her departure, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Curtis, one brother, Barney C. Curtis, and four sisters, Mrs. Bunker and Mrs. Hattie Schwartzloff of Eureka; Mrs. Lizzie Norton of Otisco; and Mrs. R.T. Nicholas of Chicago.
