The Ionia Daily Standard, Saturday, July 28, 1900

Samuel Osborne, another of the old soldiers, passed away at 10 o’clock Friday 
night, at 231 State street.  He was a long time sufferer, and had endured his 
full share of the pain and anguish of this life.  Funeral on Sunday at 2 p.m., 
Rev. W. H. B. Urch preaching, and interment in Oak Hill.  He was a member of 
Wm. H. Borden post, and was aged 78 years.
